VA House of Delegates Recognizes Steve Clinton for 23 Years of Service to Botetourt County
The Virginia House of Delegates has recognized former Botetourt County Board of Supervisors member Steve Parks Clinton for 23 years of dedicated service to Botetourt County and the Amsterdam District.
The House agreed to the resolution honoring Clinton on March 13, 2026, commending his longstanding commitment to public service and his contributions to the community during more than two decades on the Board of Supervisors.
Clinton served the Amsterdam District for 23 years and provided leadership to the Board during multiple terms as chair. During his tenure, he helped advance projects and initiatives that continue to benefit residents throughout Botetourt County.
The House resolution specifically recognizes Clinton's role in helping bring new jobs to the community and his work on several major public projects, including
- Botetourt Sports Complex at Greenfield
- Botetourt-Craig Counties Regional Jail
- Eagle Rock Library
- James River High School renovations
- Fincastle Library improvements
- Landfill Convenience Center
The resolution also highlights Clinton's longstanding commitment to historic preservation. Throughout his time in local government, he supported the Historic Greenfield Preservation Advisory Council and other efforts to preserve and interpret Botetourt County's history.
“Steve Clinton has devoted much of his life to serving others, both in uniform and in public office,” the resolution states, recognizing his more than 25 years of service in the United States Air Force, where he attained the rank of lieutenant colonel.
Clinton brought an extensive professional background to his public service. He holds advanced degrees in engineering and finance, including a bachelor's degree from The Citadel, a master's degree from Radford University and a master's degree from the University of Virginia. His professional career included senior leadership positions with major engineering and planning firms, including serving as executive vice president and chief operating officer at Hayes, Seay, Mattern & Mattern and senior vice president and regional director for AECOM's Architecture, Engineering & Planning Group.
The House resolution also recognizes Clinton's leadership in helping the Board advance community goals, maintain fiscal responsibility and support sustainable growth in Botetourt County.
In its final resolution, the House of Delegates commended Clinton for his “legacy of achievements” as a member of the Botetourt County Board of Supervisors and directed the Clerk of the House to prepare a copy of the resolution for presentation to him as an expression of the House's admiration for his longstanding dedication to public service.
Clinton's 23 years on the Board represent a significant chapter in Botetourt County's history, marked by public service, community investment, economic opportunity and a commitment to preserving the county's heritage for future generations.
